Hospital Posts

All our Hospital posts come under the umbrella of two trusts:

North Cumbria Integrated Care (NCIC)  is our local acute trust and is responsible for services at The Cumberland infirmary, Carlisle and West Cumberland Hospital, Whitehaven

The Cumberland Infirmary was re- built in 2002 and encompasses all the acute services for Carlisle on a single site. There is a wide range of posts to choose from including some of the “harder to reach” specialties. The hospital also receives more acutely ill patients transferred from West Cumbria.

West Cumberland Hospital is a brand new district general (2015) offering innovative posts focussing on assessment, triage and transfer of patients, with only a small proportion being admitted locally for continuing secondary care. There will be an emphasis on being involved in diagnosing and developing management plans for ambulatory patients, rather than caring for in-patients during your hospital attachments: ideal training for the 21st century GP!

Cumbria, Northumberland, Tyne & Wear Foundation Trust  (CNTW) is our local community and mental health trust. Psychiatry services in Carlisle are based at Carleton clinic to the south of Carlisle city centre and in West Cumbria at the West Cumberland Hospital
