How to apply

Timing

We advertise as part of the National GP Recruitment process. Information relating to recruitment and vacancies is available from the National Recruitment website.

GP Specialty Training Programmes are normally 3 years in length and you can start training in August or February.

Recruitment takes place 3 times per year:

Round 1 and Round 1 re-advert seek to recruit for an August start and Round 2 for a February start. Advertising for Round 1 begins in November.

The National Recruitment website has a calendar showing advertisement dates and the closing dates for applications.

You can now express a preference for a particular programme so if you are interested in North Cumbria GP Training Programme you need to know that we are part of Health Education North East (HEE NE+NC). This will help you find us on the National Recruitment site. Application packs can be downloaded from the National Recruitment website.

Recruitment

Following application, recruitment is then managed centrally within HEE NE +NC. After appointment, we distribute rotation preference requests to each of the successful candidates to enable us to work with them to help define their learning needs. We then allocate each GP Trainee a Training Rotation Schedule covering the three years of training.  We aim to ensure that these rotations reflect the individual's educational needs.
